SECURITY GUARD REFRESHER COURSE

INTRODUCTION

Having professional and well-trained security officers is an important requirement for anyone providing security for the preservation of life and property, corporate security providers, the industry, National Security, and at any premises. Guards play a critical frontline role in detecting, averting, and mitigating security threats as they evolve.

Security Guards who are trained will be more alert and attentive to their duties. You want security guards who will be proactive, recognize threats as they emerge, intervene in the best possible manner and give accurate reports on incidences in a concise manner.

This Refresher Course is developed through putting together three Security Guard Training Curricula; The Private Security Officer Level 1 Curriculum by the Private Security Regulatory Authority (PSRA), the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) Private Security Officer (KNQF Level 2) Curriculum & the UK’s SIA approved Security Guard curriculum as delivered by Elite Academy UK.

All three curricula are largely similar with objectives requiring the right knowledge, skills, and attitudes to be imparted to learners to appropriately execute their guard duties. The PSRA Curriculum, developed in 2019, has brought in a few more requirements like Ethics & Integrity that meet challenges that now face the industry and are a threat to the internal operations of the industry.

The UK’s curriculum standout contribution is the Conflict Management Module, a necessary skill in an increasingly aggressive work place for guards.

Elite Academy has synthesized the three curricula to offer a harmonized course that will help trainers ensure they meet the basic minimums required both by regulators and the demands of the workplace. We have also included a few “good to teach” modules, currently not in either of the two curricula that ensure learners come from class with the best possible start to their careers and to deliver the best service to their companies and the public.
